THE ROCKERS BRING HOME THE GOLD!
The Rockers Synchronized Skating Team recently competed at the 2016 Pacific Coast Synchronized Skating Sectional Championships in Portland, Oregon, and earned the gold medal in the Open Juvenile division! The team trains twice per week at Westminster ICE under coaches Sarah Sherman and Lauronce Eve Traylor, and look forward to moving up to the Intermediate division next season. TRY HOCKEY FOR FREE DAY - SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 20TH AT TWO THE RINKS LOCATIONS
The Anaheim Ducks and The Rinks will take part in USA Hockey's Hockey Weekend across America, hosting Try Hockey for Free Day on Saturday, February 20th for boys and girls ages 4 to 12 ate two The Rinks locations. Try Hockey for Free day offers both boys and girls the chance to learn to play the game of hockey during a supervised session, receiving instruction on the basics of hockey as well as learn to skate properly. Participants will be provided with skates, shoulder and elbow pads, shin guards, a helmet, hockey pants, gloves, stick and a jersey for the one-hour session. WESTMINSTER ICE SKATERS SET FOR NATIONALS!
Two Westminster Ice Figure Skaters will be competing in the US Figure Skating Championships Jan. 16-22 in St. Paul Minnesota. Nhi Do qualified for her 2nd trip to Nationals by placing second at Southwest Pacific Regionals in the Novice Ladies event. Vanna Giang, the Southwest Pacific Junior Ladies Champion will make her National debut in the Jr. Ladies event. Both girls will be accompanied by coaches Doug Chapman and Dianne DeLeeuw.

NEW Homeschool Learn to Play Hockey Sessions Announced!
The Rinks has announced new dates for its Homeschool Learn to Play Hockey program beginning in January 2016. The Rinks - Yorba Linda ICE will start the year off with a Learn to Play session beginning on Tuesday, January 12. The Rinks - Lakewood ICE will follow shortly after with a session beginning Wednesday, February 17. These sessions are open to all students, ages 4 to 18, that can make the mid-day timeslot. WESTMINSTER ICE YOUTH OLYMPIAN
Vanna Giang from Westminster Ice won the Youth Olympic Qualifying competition held in Ontario, Ca. National and International competitors came from all corners of the US to compete for this honor. Vanna will now be nominated to represent the United States in Figure Skating at the 2016 Youth Olympic Games to be held in Lillehammer Norway, Feb. 12-21 2016. Vanna trains at Westminster Ice with coaches Doug Chapman and Dianne DeLeeuw. More Medal winners at the 2015 GoldenWest Championships: Nhi Do winner of Novice B and 3rd place in Final, Gerald Hsu 2nd Juvenile Boys, Andrea Brown 1st Preliminary, Bethanie Luu 1st Pre-Preliminary, McKaylin Mangagil 2nd Pre-Preliminary.

ANAHEIM DUCKS LEARN TO PLAY PROGRAM
The Anaheim Ducks Learn to Play Program presented by Bauer is back, giving all first-time hockey players the chance to get on the rink (ice or inline) in full hockey equipment for FREE!  Participants receive instruction from The Rinks coaching staff on how to skate properly while implementing some of the basic skills in hockey such as passing, shooting, and stick handling.

The Learn to Play Program is a (4) four week session geared toward participants 10 years old and younger (due to equipment sizes). Each participant is provided with an equipment bag, helmet, shin guards, hockey pants, elbow pads, shoulder pads, gloves, stick and a jersey, which they get to keep during the duration of the session, giving them the opportunity to practice what they have learned between each session. Skate rentals are provided for free at each rink as well. The use of full hockey equipment allows participants to get the feel of skating in full hockey gear, allowing them to experience the sport as a whole without taking on the financial commitment of purchasing all the equipment.
 
Participants who complete the Learn to Play program and continue on to a paid program within The Rinks will receive a FREE, complete set of Mission/Bauer equipment to keep courtesy of Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry.

The 7:40am and 2:00pm freestyles are canceled for Fri. Feb 5. Sat. Feb 6th freestyle times are 5:20am and 6:20am and power skating has been canceled.

Fri. Feb 5th the 3:10pm session will be from 3:40pm-4:40pm and will be 1/2 price. The 7:15pm session on Fri. Feb 5th and 12th has been canceled. All sessions have been canceled Sat. Feb 13th and Sun. Feb 14th.
